As most of you know, I'm a nurse. I absolutely love my job and what I do! I'm currently in RN school and will finish in May. With that being said, I'm normally a very compassionate person, because that is one thing my career instills in me. I have always been skeptical of those, though, that come to the ER at 2 am with a toothache. I'm like, really? You couldn't take a Tylenol and wait until the morning? What do you really think the ER doc is gonna do for your hurt tooth?-NEVER AGAIN!!!- I think it is mainly because I have NEVER had a toothache! I've gone to the the dentist like clockwork over the years and never had a cavity until after being pregnant with Madison. Well a couple of weeks ago that all changed. I had my first dose of toothache pain. I was actually at work and about 2am, (is that the time the adult's toothfairy, carrying pain, not money, comes to see everybody?) I just couldn't stand it any longer. I honestly believe that if i had had a pair of pliers I would have yanked that tooth out myself! I made an appt as soon as I got off that next morning, and went on in to my dentist to see what the problem was. He said it look like I would need a root canal, but wanted to wait until after the baby was born. WHAT???? I'm just supposed to deal with the pain? I think not!! :) I'm such a sissy. I'll never, ever, ever again judge those that come to the ER in the middle of the night with a toothache! In fact, I'll be their advocate..."Hey doc...this one over here needs some Morphine stat!" :) Anyway, after a couple of attempts to go a less invasive route, we finally had to do the root canal. I have been a basket of nerves for a few days now, awaiting the procedure. Not knowing what it was gonna be like, and not sure what kind of pain control measures I could have, I was just nervous!! But all went well, my dentist, the wonderful Dr. Burgess, conferred with my OB, and was able to keep me comfortable. I had to get some extra injections during the procedure because the type of med they had to give me doesn't last as long as the regular kind, so when I came out, I looked sooooo funny! The whole side of my face was numb, not just my mouth. My eye was droopy and I only had half a smile...it was hilarious!!! I'm actually in alot less pain now! Just really sore! So, during the pregnancy of my 3rd child, I've still experienced a "first"!
Enough about teeth! I'm off work the next couple of days, and school is out for me until the girls go back. I took them out of daycare to keep them home with me this summer, but so far it's been crazy! With school and my OB dr appts, and taking Abi to her neurologist in P-cola, it's like we have been going in 100 different directions so far this summer! But hopefully for the next couple of weeks, we can just chill by the pool and enjoy what's left of it! Actually we have an eventful day planned tomorrow! We are going to Andy to have lunch with my grandmother, then have some errands to run. We may actually get their school supplies tomorrow too. But later on I'm gonna let the girls spend the evening with my mom while a few old friends and I meet to plan our 10 year reunion!!! Wow! I can't believe it's been 10 years already. Lord knows how much I have changed since graduation. I think its gonna be awesome to see the changes, or lack there of :), in some of the others too! But just getting together with some of the girls tomorrow has already got me excited! Hope we get some planning done, but I'm also looking forward to the catching up too!
Ok, well I'll leave you with that for now. Time for a "soft" supper, then bath time for the girls, and I'll probably turn in early with my heat pack on my cheek and my lovely pain medication- Tylenol!-and of course some snuggles!! :)
